The Labour Party government has announced new rules for people selling and buying homes, promising families and first-time buyers will "save time, money, and stress" thanks to these reforms.

Key Reforms Announced

Under the overhaul, buyers will receive new sales packs ensuring they have the necessary information upfront. Additionally, earlier binding agreements and digital tools are expected to halve the number of sales that fall through, saving millions.

Reforms will cut buying times by around four weeks, save first-time buyers an average of £650, and accelerate the housing market, according to the government.

Prime Minister's Statement

Prime Minister Keir Starmer said: "Getting the keys to a home you can call your own is one of the biggest events in anyone’s life. But right now, the system that should provide support instead turns it into a battle, leaving people in limbo and putting that opportunity out of reach."
