Barclays Announces £200 Switching Bonus and Apple TV Perk for New Customers
Barclays has confirmed details of a promotional offer that provides certain customers with a £200 payment and access to Apple TV when they switch to a Barclays Bank Account. The bank states that eligible individuals could receive up to £200 after completing a straightforward switching process.
Eligibility and Requirements for the Offer
To qualify for the £200 switch deal, customers must be aged 18 or over and be UK residents. However, individuals who have had an open Barclays current account on or after March 10, or have previously received switch cash from Barclays, are not eligible for this promotion.
New account holders must pay at least £2,000 into their Barclays Bank Account within 30 days of opening it. This can be achieved through a balance transfer using the Current Account Switch Service or by making instalments. Additionally, at least two direct debits must be transferred to the new account, which is typically handled automatically via the Current Account Switch Service.
Apple TV Access Through Barclays Blue Rewards
On top of the £200 bonus, customers who opt for the £5-per-month Barclays Blue Rewards programme can unlock various deals, including access to Apple TV. This streaming service usually costs £9.99 per month, but with the rewards programme, the subscription effectively becomes half the usual price, though Barclays markets it as free.
A Barclays spokesperson explained the switching service: "When you’ve opened a new account with us, we’ll move all your incoming and outgoing payments across to your new Barclays account in just seven working days. That’s things like your salary, benefits, Direct Debits, standing orders and bills. We’ll also transfer any money on the day of the switch. Your old account will be closed, and any payments made to your old account will be redirected to your new one for at least three years."
Application Process and Account Details
Prospective customers do not need to visit a Barclays branch to open an account; they can use the Barclays app to apply for a Barclays Bank Account. It is important to note that this must be a sole account, not a joint one, to be eligible for the switch offer.
Most people who meet the standard qualifying factors will be able to sign up and take advantage of this switching offer, making it an accessible opportunity for many UK residents looking to switch their banking provider.
