National Savings and Investments (NS&I) is urging all Premium Bonds customers to log into their accounts on Tuesday morning to discover if they have won a life-changing prize in the December draw. The savings provider has revealed the first details of this month's two multi-million-pound jackpot winners.
Meet the Latest Millionaires
The first of December's £1 million winners is from Norwich and holds a total of £35,000 in Premium Bonds. Their lucky bond, numbered 591RD417238, was purchased as recently as August 2024. The second top-prize winner hails from Cornwall, with a holding of £20,000. Their winning bond, number 615WP633178, was bought in February 2025.
Andrew Westhead, NS&I Retail Director, extended his congratulations, noting the winners were set for a festive season like no other. "Congratulations to our two jackpot winners from Shropshire and York who have each started the countdown to the festive period a million pounds richer," he said.
How and When to Check for Prizes
The official checking day for prizes ranging from £25 to £100,000 is the day after the first working day of the month. For December, this falls on Tuesday morning. Savers have several ways to see if they have won:
- Using the official Premium Bonds prize checker app.
- Visiting the NS&I website and entering their holder's number.
- Asking Alexa to check for them.
Those using the NS&I website will need their Premium Bonds holder’s number, while app users can log in with either their holder’s number or their NS&I number.
Understanding Premium Bonds
Premium Bonds offer a unique savings alternative, combining the security of being 100% backed by HM Treasury with the chance to win tax-free prizes each month. Every £1 Bond is entered into a monthly prize draw where rewards range from £25 up to the £1 million jackpot.
Savers can hold up to £50,000 in Bonds, an allowance that also applies to holdings for those under 16. It is important to note that newly purchased Bonds must be held for one full calendar month before they become eligible for the prize draw.
The prizes are funded by applying a prize fund rate across the total of all eligible Bonds. Since April 1994, the top prize has been £1 million, and the number of these jackpots was increased to two each month, doubling the chances of a life-changing win.
