Nationwide to Confirm £100 Bonus Payments in May

Nationwide is preparing to confirm free £100 payments for customers next month as part of its popular Fairer Share scheme, which is expected to return this year.

The building society's bosses are set to make a formal announcement during May, coinciding with the release of its annual financial results. The Fairer Share scheme has been running each summer since 2023, with payments typically arriving in bank accounts in June.

Eligible customers who hold a Nationwide current account along with either a savings account or a mortgage will automatically receive the payment without needing to take any action. The scheme rewards members who conduct most or all of their banking with Nationwide and also aims to attract new customers from rival banks.

Financial experts anticipate the bonus payments will be confirmed once again this year. Nationwide has stated on its website: "We'd like to make Fairer Share Payments every year, but it depends on how we perform financially. For any future payments, we may change the eligibility criteria and the amount we pay."

A spokesperson added: "Nationwide's board will decide on a Fairer Share Payment for 2026 and it will depend on our financial performance. That assessment will be made after our financial year end, with the eligibility criteria for this year being agreed then too. The decision will be announced as part of our full year results in May."

Millions of customers have received the cash boost over the past few years. The scheme has been a key part of Nationwide's customer loyalty program, offering a direct financial benefit to those who consolidate their banking with the society.
