Balkan Ski Resort Tops List of Europe's Most Affordable Slopes with £1 Beers
Bulgarian Resort Named Europe's Most Affordable Ski Destination

A comprehensive new index has revealed the most budget-friendly ski resorts in Europe for British holidaymakers, with a Balkan destination boasting £1 beers and daily costs under £50 taking the top spot.

Bansko Claims the Crown for Value

Bansko in Bulgaria has been ranked number one in easyJet's Cheap Ski Index. Researchers compared average prices for essential ski holiday components, including lift passes, equipment hire, accommodation, transport, and the price of a beer.

Located at the foot of the Pirin Mountains and just two hours from Sofia, Bansko offers remarkable value. Skiers can hire equipment for around £15 per day, with accommodation averaging £45 per night. The total daily cost, excluding flights, comes to approximately £142, with a beer costing just £1.23.

A Mix of Hidden Gems and Familiar Favourites

The index, published on 20th January 2026, highlights a variety of destinations where the pound stretches further. In second place is Białka Tatrzańska in Poland, praised as an excellent option for beginners, families, and groups thanks to its down-to-earth atmosphere.

Bulgaria's oldest resort, Borovets, follows closely in third, offering 58km of slopes in the Rila Mountains. Italy's Bardonecchia, a 2006 Winter Olympics venue with high-Alpine ambience, takes fourth, while the combined Andorran resort of Pal-Arinsal offers a taste of the Alps with cheaper après-ski and tapas.

Proving Alpine Charm Doesn't Need a Luxury Price Tag

The list demonstrates that authentic ski experiences are accessible without exorbitant costs. Well-known French resorts Les Deux Alpes and Morzine also feature, proving that even classic Alpine destinations can offer competitive value, with daily costs around £80 compared to pricier neighbours.

Kevin Doyle, easyJet's UK country manager, commented: "As people start to look at booking a break on the slopes, we hope that our new index spotlights just some of the resorts where equipment hire, hotels and hospitality can be found for fantastic value."

He added: "With a flurry of snow set to dust Europe in the coming weeks, last minute ski getaways are sure to be top of mind for many. Direct flights from 13 UK airports make all ten destinations easily accessible."
