A significant fire has caused substantial damage to a popular cocktail bar and restaurant in the heart of Birmingham.

Emergency Response to Hockley Hill Blaze

The incident occurred at the Kulture Bar & Grill on Hockley Hill in Hockley. West Midlands Fire Service confirmed they were mobilised to the scene shortly after 2.15pm on Friday, November 14.

Responding with impressive speed, the first fire engine arrived within just four minutes of the call. In total, three fire crews from Ladywood, Aston and Handsworth fire stations were deployed to tackle the blaze.

Containing the Damage

Firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus, worked diligently to bring the fire under control. They utilised three hose reels and C02 extinguishers to combat the flames.

The fire service confirmed that the blaze was accidental and had been successfully extinguished by approximately 3.35pm. Despite their success in putting out the fire, the incident left its mark, with around 30 per cent of the bar and restaurant's ground floor suffering damage.

Aftermath and Investigation

Following the extinguishing of the fire, crews remained on-site for several hours. Their continued presence was to liaise with National Grid engineers, who were called upon to isolate the electrical supply to the property, ensuring the safety of the building and the public.

The final crew from the West Midlands Fire Service did not depart from Hockley Hill until 8.01pm, marking the formal conclusion of the emergency operation.
