Sky Insider Reveals Hidden TV Hacks After £36 Price Hike Announcement

Sky has confirmed that millions of its users will face price increases starting from 1 April, with some broadband and TV customers seeing hikes of up to £36. In response, a Sky insider has shared top secret hacks to boost your TV experience, including hidden remote button features that many users are unaware of.

Price Increases and Customer Impact

The exact increases depend on your specific package, but Sky announced that most Sky Mobile customers, including many mid-contract users, will see prices rise by £1.50 per month from 14 February. This news has prompted the insider to reveal valuable tips to help customers get more value from their services amidst the rising costs.

Hidden Remote Control Features

Matt Rye, Sky's Director of Product Management, shared these often-forgotten tips with The Sun. One key hack involves the TV guide: by holding down the right button, you can search up to seven days in advance, skipping by day for easier planning. Additionally, in the TV guide, a quick press of the circle button plays whatever you select, while a long press takes you to the show page. This page displays all episodes available on demand, allowing you to watch live or restart shows seamlessly.

Playlists as the New Recordings

Another major tip highlights playlists as a replacement for traditional recordings. Matt explains that you no longer need to worry about storage or recording clashes with playlists. When you add a show to your playlist, every episode—past, present, and future—gets automatically added, making it a breeze to catch up in one centralized location. To add content, simply use the plus button on your remote control when you see something you like.

Additional Features for Enhanced Viewing

Sky also offers other useful features to improve your viewing experience. On selected shows and movies, you should see a "Skip ads" button for quicker watching. There's also a night mode available: just press the three dots button on your remote control to bring up the menu and press select to activate it. For parental controls, you can lock out kids by navigating to Settings, then PIN and parental, Manage parental settings, entering your PIN, and selecting which apps to PIN protect.

These hacks are designed to help Sky customers maximize their TV usage and offset the impact of the upcoming price increases, ensuring a better and more efficient viewing experience without extra costs.
