Taco Bell to Open First Birmingham City Centre Branch at New Street Station

The popular Mexican-inspired fast-food chain Taco Bell is set to open its first Birmingham city centre branch, located inside Birmingham New Street Station on the Bullring side. This new outlet will be situated next to Popeyes, marking a significant expansion for the brand in the heart of the city.

Expanding Presence in the West Midlands

While Taco Bell already operates a restaurant at Star City, as well as in Sutton Coldfield and Oldbury, this will be its inaugural location within Birmingham's central business district. The exact opening date has not been announced, but hoarding outside the site indicates it is "coming soon." Network Rail, which manages Birmingham New Street Station, and Taco Bell have been approached for further comments on the development.

Menu Offerings and Brand Growth

Taco Bell's menu features a variety of Mexican-inspired dishes, including:

  • Crunchy tacos and volcano burritos
  • Quesadillas and sides like nachos or fries "Bell Grande"
  • Desserts such as cinnamon twists, caramel apple empanada, and churros with dips

The "Bell Grande" side is particularly notable, offering extra warm nacho cheese sauce, black beans, seasoned beef, diced tomatoes, and cool sour cream. Originating in the United States, Taco Bell has seen rapid growth in the UK since opening its first British branch in Essex in 2010, followed by expansion to Manchester in 2011 and now multiple locations across the country.

Station Dining Options

This new Taco Bell will join other food outlets inside Birmingham New Street Station, such as Popeyes, Wetherspoon, Five Guys, and All Bar One, enhancing the dining choices for commuters and visitors. The addition reflects the ongoing trend of major food chains establishing presences in high-traffic transport hubs to cater to urban crowds.
