Valleys Manufacturer Avon Engineered Rubber Targets Global Expansion Under New Leadership

The Ferndale-based manufacturer Avon Engineered Rubber is poised for significant domestic and international growth following the appointment of a new managing director. Vince Minchella has taken the helm at the company, which specializes in aerosol gaskets, seals, and industrial rubber moulding for automotive, HVAC, construction, and other sectors.

New Leadership and Strategic Vision

Mr. Minchella, promoted from a commercial role within the business, expressed excitement about leading Avon Engineered Rubber forward. He emphasized the company's role as the exclusive global source for stem and cup seal gaskets, stating, "We've been the 'go-to' supply partner for the world's top aerosol valve producers for over 20 years, and I am confident we will expand our reach and contribute to Avon Group's overall progress."

The company is part of the Bristol-based Avon Group, which comprises nine engineering firms. With support from Avon Engineered Rubber, the group aims to surpass £100 million in annual revenues for the first time by 2030.

International Expansion and Investment

A key milestone in this growth strategy is the recent opening of a new facility in Malaysia. Mr. Minchella highlighted this development, saying, "The official opening of our Malaysian base is crucial as it positions us to meet growing demand in South East Asia and beyond. Our team there has made impressive progress, and by honoring local traditions, we've started perfectly in new surroundings."

To support its expansion, Avon Engineered Rubber has invested £300,000 in state-of-the-art extrusion technology and plant upgrades. The Ferndale operation employs 107 staff across production, laboratory, quality, sales, logistics, and administration teams, with additional presence in the United States.

Group Ambitions and Future Outlook

Mark Rushin, Avon Group director, commented on the company's trajectory, noting, "We are ambitious and passionate, with talented people in key roles, putting us on course to meet challenges and fulfill Avon Group's vast potential." Avon Engineered Rubber was acquired by Avon Group in 2007, and this latest move underscores its commitment to innovation and market leadership.

This expansion aligns with broader trends in Welsh manufacturing, as businesses seek to capitalize on global opportunities while strengthening domestic operations.
