UK Manufacturing Giant JRM Advanced Engineering Enters Administration
JRM Advanced Engineering, a prominent UK manufacturing firm based in Northamptonshire, has collapsed into administration, dealing a blow to the automotive industry. The company, which operated as a Tier 1 supplier, had significant contracts with major automotive brands including Jaguar Land Rover, Arctic Trucks, Subaru, and Nissan Nismo.
Administration Details and Impact
The firm was placed into administration on February 12, 2026, with Gary Pettit of PBC Business Recovery and Insolvency appointed to oversee the process. This collapse comes amid a challenging landscape for the motoring sector, which is grappling with economic pressures and shifting market demands.
JRM Advanced Engineering was known for delivering advanced engineering solutions, manufacturing, and special vehicles. Its operations included a production area with machining centres, fabrication bays, a workshop with vehicle bays, an engine clean room, and facilities such as QC inspection, training rooms, a driver simulator, and a 3D metal printer.
Key Projects and Industry Context
One of JRM's notable projects involved providing a credible engineering package and layout concept for Caterham's Project V electric vehicle. The company prided itself on solving problems with a diverse team, collaborative culture, and world-class technology, driving sustainable advancements across sectors from motorsport to aerospace, marine, and medical.
This administration follows recent warnings from industry groups about the UK's automotive future. Mike Hawes, chief executive of the SMMT, highlighted that hitting a target of building 1.3 million cars a year would likely require a new large factory in the UK, emphasizing the need to retain and grow existing capabilities while attracting inward investment.
The collapse of JRM Advanced Engineering underscores the broader struggles within UK manufacturing and the automotive sector, raising concerns about supply chain stability and job losses in related industries.
