NatWest has updated its range of Reward packaged bank accounts, introducing new health and travel benefits for customers. The bank, which has branches in Birmingham, said the refreshed accounts now include fee-free overseas debit card spending for all Reward customers, along with access to digital GP appointments and mental health support for Reward Silver account holders. Those with Platinum and Premier Reward Black accounts will also receive physiotherapy as part of the new package.
New benefits added to existing account features
These additions come on top of the existing benefits already available with some of NatWest's packaged accounts, including tastecard membership, car breakdown cover, and a travel and lifestyle concierge service. The bank said the new benefits are designed to offer customers more value across health, travel, and everyday banking.
NatWest offers a range of Reward packaged accounts providing banking benefits valued from £561 to £3,264, according to the bank. The accounts are structured to allow customers to earn cash rewards, which can be used to offset the monthly account fee by regularly moving the reward into the account balance.
Cash rewards remain a top priority for customers
Cash rewards are the top benefit priority for the majority of customers, with 60% of people surveyed by the bank identifying them as the most important feature. The bank said the process of earning these rewards is simple for all Reward account customers, making it easy to reduce the overall cost of the account.
Andrew Hagger at MoneyComms commented on the changes, saying: “The NatWest Silver packaged bank account is the most comprehensive and best value product in the £10 - £15 per month price bracket. The new health & wellness benefits will undoubtedly prove popular with consumers struggling to get appointments with their GP or local hospital.”
Platinum account offers value at £23 per month
Hagger also highlighted the value of the Platinum packaged account, noting: “The NatWest Platinum packaged account deal offers excellent value at £23 per month – particularly as monthly reward benefits totalling £4 per month are so easy to earn – thus bring the net cost down to just £19 per month for such a wide range of useful benefits.”
He added: “To get the most from the account you ideally need to have a car, mobile phone and travel overseas – this will work for many people and represents great value, particularly with the recently added health and wellness benefit on top.”
Bank responds to customer demand for integrated services
Des McDaid, Managing Director of Everyday Banking at NatWest, explained the reasoning behind the changes: “Customers tell us they want products and services that make life simpler and work harder for them every day. That’s what sits behind these changes. We’ve brought together the health, travel, insurance and lifestyle benefits that customers use and value most, alongside spending rewards, so they can access more of what matters to them in one place.”
McDaid concluded: “When people can get the support and benefits they need through a single account, it makes managing everyday life that bit easier.” The refreshed accounts are now available to new and existing customers, with the new benefits applying across the Reward Silver, Platinum, and Premier Reward Black tiers.
