This weekend, 23 high street stores are shutting across the country, affecting three major chains: Marks and Spencer, FatFace, and Quiz. Bargain fashion giant Quiz is closing all of its remaining stores after falling into administration earlier this year.
Quiz Administration and Closure Plan
Quiz entered administration in February for the second time in 12 months, following a "tough start" to 2026. Alistair McAlinden and Geoff Jacobs from Interpath were appointed joint administrators. Interpath announced last month that Quiz would implement a "closure plan" for its final stores over the coming weeks.
Alistair McAlinden, head of Interpath in Scotland and joint administrator, said: "As the Quiz stores close their doors for the final time, we would like to thank every member of staff for their commitment over the past five months. In exceptionally challenging circumstances, their professionalism ensured the business could continue to trade effectively. We are extremely grateful for their efforts and wish them all the best for the future."
M&S and FatFace Closures
M&S is closing its outlet location at Riverside Retail Park in Warrington and its Foodhall at Friars Walk Shopping Centre in Newport. The retailer stated that the closures on June 21 are due to performance not being "where it needs to be."
FatFace, which has stores in Birmingham and Solihull, has announced the closure of its long-standing Hitchin shop on June 20.
