Lloyds Banking Group has confirmed that 233 bank branches across the UK will close during 2026 and 2027, with closures already underway this year. The closures affect all three brands under the group – Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland – and include multiple branches in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.
Birmingham branches affected
Birmingham has already seen several closures this year, including Halifax Bearwood (B66 4BW) on March 2, Lloyds Bank Harborne (B17 9NP) on October 10, and Lloyds Bank Upper Kingstanding (B44 9TB) on June 3. Further closures in the city include Lloyds Bank Highters Heath (B14 5HS) on June 4, Lloyds Bank Blackheath (B65 0EB) on June 10, Lloyds Bank Bordesley Green (B9 4SU) on June 16, Lloyds Bank Handsworth (B21 9LN) on September 23, and Halifax Kings Heath (B14 7JJ) on October 26. Halifax Sutton Coldfield (B72 1PU) closed on June 3.
Nationwide closure schedule
The closures are spread across the remainder of 2026 and into 2027. In 2026, closures begin in January and continue through to November, with a further set scheduled for March, June, and January 2027. The list includes branches in England, Scotland, and Wales.
