Bonmarché, the women's fashion retailer, has announced it will open its new store in Sutton Coldfield's Gracechurch Centre on Thursday, August 13 at 9.30am, taking over the former JD Sports premises that have been vacant for seven months. The opening day will feature exclusive deals, including free goody bags for the first 30 customers, a lucky dip prize for the first 200 shoppers, and five hidden Golden Tickets each worth £30.
Background of the Move
JD Sports had operated in the Gracechurch Centre for a decade before leaving in January 2026, with a shop worker at the time citing rent increases as an issue. Bonmarché, founded in Wakefield in 1982 and now over 40 years old, previously had a presence in Sutton Coldfield but left the town centre. Its return marks a strategic move to re-establish itself in the community.
Opening Day Offers and Ambassadors
The opening day promotions are designed to attract shoppers. Amanda Waterfield, retail director for Bonmarché, said: “We are delighted to be coming back to Sutton Coldfield with our new store, and look forward to welcoming customers through our doors. This new location allows us to showcase our full fashion offering, including our latest collections and exciting celebrity collaborations.” The store will feature collections from brand ambassadors Lisa Snowdon and Lorraine Kelly, as well as the 'everyday luxury' brand Dash and 'casual lifestyle' brand Autonomy. Lisa Snowdon's 'NEW Edit' line offers effortlessly stylish staples, while Lorraine Kelly's 'Lorraine Loves' collection, developed since 2023, focuses on figure-flattering designs.

Bonmarché prides itself on offering fashionwear in women's sizes from 10 to 28. The new store will stock wardrobe essentials, fashion staples, lingerie, nightwear, accessories, and footwear. Waterfield added: “We’re excited to become part of the Sutton Coldfield community and to offer customers stylish womenswear at exceptional value. This opening also reflects our continued investment in the high street, with over 225 Bonmarché stores across the UK.”
