Costa Coffee in Bullring boarded over for refurbishment
Costa Coffee's ground-floor cafe in the Birmingham Bullring has been boarded over as renovation work begins at the long-standing unit. The brand has been a fixture of the shopping centre since it opened in 2003, serving customers for 23 years. Bullring owner Hammerson confirmed that Costa is not leaving its current location but is undergoing a refresh.
White hoarding went up days ago, completely hiding the cafe from view. A Bullring spokesperson assured that the brand remains in place and the changes are temporary.
New cafe Vyve to open in Bullring
This week, the Bullring announced that a new cafe called Vyve will launch soon in the shopping centre. Vyve specializes in coffee and matcha in various flavours, and will also bring back acai bowls, a menu item missed since Oakberry closed at the end of 2025. The new branch will occupy a kiosk space on the ground floor, next to Batch'd cookie shop, a short distance from Costa.
Costa's Grand Central closure and replacement
Costa previously operated a prominent branch in Grand Central for ten years until October 2025, when it closed along with other outlets like Caffe Concerta. That space was quickly taken over by Black Sheep Coffee. BirminghamLive has contacted Costa for details on the Bullring refurbishment but has not yet received a response. Further updates are expected as work progresses.
