Major changes are underway at Birmingham's Bullring shopping centre as watch brand Breitling closes its doors on the Upper West Mall. The empty Breitling unit and the former Clarks shop are merging into one massive 10,745 sq ft space, which is larger than the new Aston Villa store. A mystery tenant has already secured the double-wide unit, though Bullring owners are keeping the identity under wraps.
New Brand Set to Move In
A spokesperson for Hammerson, the owner of Bullring, confirmed only that it was a 'new exciting brand'. The significant size of the unit raises questions about which major retailer could fill such substantial retail space. Meanwhile, the former Kate Spade and Dr Martens units are also combining into a 9,565 sq ft space that is already under offer.
Other Prime Locations Being Snapped Up
Several other prime locations are being snapped up, including the giant unit underneath the Rotunda where Zara used to be. Grand Central, also part of Hammerson's Birmingham estate, has nine shops available to let, with four more currently in solicitors' hands.
Retail Shake-Up Promises New Brands
The retail shake-up promises to bring major new brands to Birmingham's premier shopping destination. The changes are expected to enhance the shopping experience for visitors and attract more footfall to the area.
