Championship clubs are making significant moves in the summer transfer market ahead of the window opening on Monday. Birmingham City's promotion rivals are already active, with Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers securing key signings.
Southampton's Early Moves
Southampton, expelled from the play-off final for spying on opponents, have re-signed goalkeeper Daniel Peretz and striker Cyle Larin after their successful loan spells. The club will start next season with a four-point deduction as punishment but remains a promotion contender.
Wolves Land Trippier, Target Jimenez
Relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers have made an eye-catching signing, bringing in former England full-back Kieran Trippier on a two-year contract after his Newcastle United departure. Trippier, 35, brings Champions League experience. Wolves are also targeting striker Raul Jimenez, who is leaving Fulham. Jimenez scored 40 Premier League goals for Wolves and 28 for Fulham.
Head coach Rob Edwards emphasized the need for experience and leadership, stating, "We know what we've lacked this year, and we know what we need next year - experience, leadership, resilient characters and strong characters. That's what we're going to need in abundance, and Tripps ticks every box."
