Coca Cola Announces Major Change to Iconic Drink Cans

Coca-Cola has confirmed a major change to its iconic cans, which will also help customers save money. The fizzy drinks giant has announced plans to alter drink sizes across UK supermarkets to make products more affordable and appealing to consumers.

New Pricing and Pack Strategy

Coca-Cola, which competes with brands like Pepsi, Dr Pepper, Fanta, and Sprite, will adjust both its pricing and pack strategy. Speaking at the Deutsche Bank consumer conference, Chief Financial Officer John Murphy revealed that customers will soon see differently sized products on shelves. He explained that these changes are due to uneven demand for Coca-Cola products, noting that households earning $50,000 to $60,000 a year are particularly stretched, and the company must stay relevant to them.

Smaller Packs and Larger Multipacks

The company plans to introduce smaller single-serve packs that keep checkout prices low, alongside larger multipacks and premium drinks for shoppers willing to pay more. This dual approach aims to cater to varying consumer budgets.

Cane Sugar Version in the US

Last year, Coca-Cola announced plans to introduce a new version sweetened with cane sugar in the US, complementing its existing lineup. The company confirmed in its quarterly update that it will launch this offering in autumn. While Coca-Cola uses cane sugar in many countries, the US has typically used corn syrup. CEO James Quincey stated that the company is exploring all sweetening options to meet consumer preferences. President Donald Trump had previously touted the move on social media, and Coca-Cola appreciated his enthusiasm.
