Harry Wilson is reportedly closing in on a move to Leeds United after attracting interest from Aston Villa and several other Premier League clubs. According to The Athletic, the Fulham winger will leave Craven Cottage when his contract expires on July 1 and is expected to join Leeds following positive talks with his representatives.
Leeds United Lead the Race
Leeds came close to signing Wilson last summer, but the move ultimately fell through. However, the Elland Road club are now well placed to complete a deal. Wilson, 27, enjoyed the best season of his career last term, scoring 10 Premier League goals, several of which were spectacular strikes.
Aston Villa's Transfer Strategy
Unai Emery has recruited free agents during his time at Villa, including Youri Tielemans and Victor Lindelof, but Wilson appears to be one target he is prepared to pass up this time. Villa had considered signing Wilson on a free transfer, but have now turned their attention elsewhere. Everton have also been linked with the winger.
Emery wants to add at least one winger to his squad this summer, with Jarrod Bowen, Ibrahim Mbaye, Crysencio Summerville, Jonathan Rowe and Karim Adeyemi all admired by Villa. Bowen, another winger on Villa's shortlist, has been mentioned as a potential target.
Financial Constraints and Player Sales
Squad Cost Rules (SCR) continue to restrict Villa's flexibility in the transfer market, with spending on wages, transfers and agents' fees capped at 70 per cent of the club's revenue. Morgan Rogers' future will go some way to shaping the window, with Arsenal keen on signing Villa's prized asset, who will likely be valued above £100 million.
