McArthurGlen Ends East Midlands Outlet Management

The company that has been running a major designer outlet mall in the Midlands has announced it is stepping away from its role. McArthurGlen has confirmed it will no longer manage the East Midlands Designer Outlet after nearly three decades of operation.

Despite this change, trading at the centre will continue as Frasers Group has taken over the management. The outlet features more than 65 popular brands, including Nike, Calvin Klein, Puma, Tommy Hilfiger, BOSS, Crocs, adidas, Kurt Geiger, Lacoste, Levi’s, and French Connection.

McArthurGlen's Statement

In a statement, McArthurGlen said: “We wanted to share an update with our community. As of June 1, 2026, McArthurGlen’s management of the centre will come to an end. We’re proud to have managed the East Midlands Designer Outlet for nearly three decades and would like to thank our guests, brand partners and local community for being part of that journey. We hope to welcome you for a great day out at one of our other McArthurGlen Designer Outlet 21 designer outlets.”

Frasers Group Takes Over

Frasers Group has confirmed it will take over the 170,000 square foot East Midlands Designer Outlet. The company described the move as “reflecting progress against the group’s vision of creating a compelling brand ecosystem and platform for growth.” Purchase prices were not disclosed. McArthurGlen will continue to run the West Midlands centre in Cannock.

Frasers Group chief executive Michael Murray also confirmed the acquisition of a centre in York. He said: “These strategic acquisitions reinforce our vision, leveraging strong partnerships with leading global brands to unlock mutual value - supporting their outlet strategies while driving growth.” He added: “We have a clear ambition to grow our share further.”

Frasers also runs centres including the Olympus Centre retail park in Gloucester, Doncaster’s Frenchgate shopping centre and The Mall in Luton.
