McDonald's Scraps Wrap of the Day After 15 Years, Moves Deal to App Amid Boycott Threats
McDonald's Scraps Wrap of the Day, Moves Deal to App

McDonald's is set to scrap a fan favourite deal after 15 years, as customers vow to boycott the fast food giant. The company, which operates branches across Birmingham and the rest of the UK, will remove its Wrap of the Day promotion from July.

New App-Only Offer

The Wrap of the Day, which offered a daily rotating wrap at a discounted price of £2.49, will be replaced by an app-only deal renamed 'Wrap in the App'. Customers will need to use the McDonald's app via their smartphone to access the offer, either for in-store pickup or delivery.

One customer warned the move gives “more reason to give up McDonald’s”, while another branded it the “final nail in the coffin”.

Timing and Availability

The app offer will run daily from 11am to 11pm, but customers can only redeem the deal once per day. The promotion includes three wrap options: tikka wrap (tikka mayo, mango and lime chutney, onions, lettuce, cucumber, and crispy chicken in a soft toasted tortilla), BBQ bacon wrap (crispy chicken breast strips with bacon, smoky BBQ sauce, cool mayo, tomato, and lettuce), and sweet chilli wrap (crispy chicken breast with sweet chilli sauce, cool mayo, lettuce, and cucumber).

Company Statement

A McDonald's spokesperson said: “From July 14, our new ‘Get Any Wrap in the App’ offer will enable customers to redeem any wrap for £2.49, any day of the week, on the McDonald’s App. We regularly review the ways we can improve our value offers and moving this new deal onto the app means customers will have more flexibility to choose their favourite wrap on any day they’d like it.”
