Morrisons' New £1 Aisle Outshines Poundland for Budget Shopping
Morrisons £1 Aisle Beats Poundland for Budget Buys

Morrisons has introduced a new £1 section in its stores, and I recently visited one of their large superstores to explore it firsthand. The department occupied approximately half an aisle, positioned on just one side, yet it was brimming with items that I typically would make a special trip to Poundland to purchase.

Impressive Variety Beyond Essentials

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the selection extended far beyond everyday necessities. While it included staples like air fresheners, cleaning cloths, bin bags, multi-surface wipes, and food bags, there was also an enticing array of other products, all priced at the unbeatable rate of £1.

Notable Items Available

The aisle featured a diverse mix of goods, such as wardrobe dehumidifier hanging bags, reed diffusers, tea towels, stationery, beauty items, and even kitchen tongs. Here is a more detailed list of what I discovered:

  • Wardrobe dehumidifier hanging bags
  • Air freshener cans and solid gel air fresheners
  • Air fryer liners and kitchen tongs
  • Fabric freshener sprays and reed scent diffusers
  • Tea towels and kitchen scissors
  • A4 whiteboards and pen sets
  • Masking tape, stationery items, and manicure sets
  • Parcel tape, sewing kits, and Sellotape
  • Heat patches, brushes, and hair bands
  • Waterproof plasters, multi-surface wipes, and bin bags
  • Scourer pads, food and freezer bags, and foil food cartons
  • Cleaning cloths and toilet cistern blocks

Overall Verdict: Superior to Poundland

Despite the limited stock, I concluded that this £1 aisle is actually better than Poundland. The key reason is that every single item is priced at exactly £1, whereas many products at Poundland now range from £2 to £5, making it less of a budget-friendly option for household essentials.

In my opinion, Morrisons has successfully created a compelling alternative for cost-conscious shoppers. I plan to return to their £1 aisle in the future for my budget shopping needs, as it offers genuine value without the price creep seen elsewhere.
