Moss to Close Birmingham New Street Store After 28 Years, Moving to Bullring
Moss Closes New Street Store After 28 Years

Moss, the menswear retailer formerly known as Moss Bros, is set to close its flagship store on Birmingham's New Street after 28 years of trading at the location. The shop, which has occupied the corner of Temple Street and New Street since 1998, will continue operating until September 2026, though an exact closing date has not yet been announced.

Move to Bullring

Customers are being directed to the new Bullring branch, which opened in 2025 on the middle floor, replacing the former Yours store. Signage at the New Street shop reads: "We're moving with many familiar faces. Explore our full collection at Bullring Shopping Centre, Birmingham, B5 4BU." The retailer rebranded from Moss Bros to Moss in 2023.

Property Sale and Wider Changes

The closure follows the sale of the Grade II-listed Temple Buildings last year in a £4m deal by MK2 Real Estate to a private investor. The unit sits beside T4, which also closed at the end of 2025. Meanwhile, New Street is seeing new arrivals: Bird and Blend tea shop has taken over the old Claire's Accessories unit, and Maki and Ramen is opening in King Edward House.

The retailer first served Birmingham customers in the 1960s and has been a fixture on New Street for nearly three decades. According to a spokesperson, the move consolidates the brand's presence in the city centre, with the Bullring location offering a modern shopping experience.
