Birmingham's New Plant Shop Offers Calm Oasis for Christmas Shopping
New Plant Shop Opens in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter

Forget the frantic hustle of the festive season. A new sanctuary has opened in Birmingham, offering shoppers a serene escape amongst greenery and tranquillity.

A Green Haven in the Heart of the City

Root 13, a beloved houseplant shop originally from Kings Heath, has opened a stunning second location at The Goodsyard on Pitsford Street in the Jewellery Quarter. The new store, which launched on Friday, November 28, is designed as a floral haven, complete with an aquarium and a specially enclosed 'calm space' for visitors to relax and recharge.

Owners Dave and Katy Williams, who live in Quinton, first opened their Poplar Road store in Kings Heath in 2023. It quickly gained a reputation as a 'magical little shop' for plant lovers. Their new venture in the Jewellery Quarter is significantly larger and fulfils their long-held dream of combining retail with a genuine sanctuary.

More Than Just a Shop: A Space for Wellbeing

"We love the community spirit of the Jewellery Quarter and knew we wanted to be a part of it," said Dave Williams. He emphasises that the invitation is to do more than just shop. "We invite people to come in not just for inspiration on unique plants for their home, but to take a step back and relax."

The experience is carefully curated for the senses, featuring the sound of running water from the aquarium, the natural scent of plants and white sage. The dedicated calm space allows visitors to sit and take five minutes away from their busy lives. "Mental health is really important to us," Dave added.

Community Acclaim for a Stunning New Venue

Social media has been alight with praise for the new store since photos were shared online. Followers have marvelled at the lush interior, where plants hang from the ceiling, tables are filled with succulents, and rocking chairs sit in a nook enclosed by monstera leaves. A cosy fireplace adds to the inviting atmosphere.

Local businesses have been quick to applaud the achievement. Vida Jewellery commented, "Oh wow, this looks insane, I want to move in!" while Birmingham Artisan Markets posted, "Such a stunning space. Well done you both deserve to be very proud of yourselves."

The original Kings Heath store continues to operate successfully. The new Root 13 in the Jewellery Quarter is open from Monday to Saturday, 10am until 6pm. It is located at 53 Pitsford Street, B18 6FG, just a short walk from the Jewellery Quarter tram and train station.
