Sainsbury's has officially announced its revised trading schedule for the 2025 festive period, detailing when its supermarkets and convenience stores will open and close across the UK.
Christmas and New Year Opening Hours
The supermarket giant will implement special hours on key dates. On Christmas Eve, most larger Sainsbury's stores will operate from 6am to 7pm. Its convenience stores, however, are set to offer extended service, potentially staying open from 6am until 9pm.
In line with tradition, all Sainsbury's stores will be closed on Christmas Day to allow staff to celebrate with their families.
For Boxing Day, shoppers can expect main supermarkets to be open from 9am to 6pm. Convenience stores will again have longer hours, typically running from 9am to 9pm.
As the year draws to a close, New Year's Eve will see larger stores open from 10am to 7pm, with convenience outlets possibly trading from 6am to 9pm. On New Year's Day, bigger stores are scheduled to run from 8am to 8pm, while convenience stores generally open between 9am and 9pm.
Customers are advised to use the Sainsbury's store finder online for the most accurate and specific timings for their local branch.
Festive Price Cuts to Rival Aldi
The announcement of holiday hours coincides with Sainsbury's revealing a major festive price initiative, directly taking on discounter Aldi. The grocer, which operates over 1,400 branches nationwide, is launching a 'festive feed six' deal for as little as £2.30 per person when customers use a Nectar card.
This forms part of an aggressive Aldi Price Match campaign. A standout offer includes a third off Sainsbury’s Fresh Standard Whole British Turkeys£3 per kg with Nectar Prices, compared to £4.50/kg without.
A host of festive vegetables will be slashed to just 15p each with Nectar Prices, as the supermarket commits to providing "brilliant festive value for all." The selection includes:

- by Sainsbury’s Brussels Sprouts 500g (£1.00 without Nectar)

Further enhancing the festive spread, Sainsbury's is offering its Butcher's Choice British Pork & British Bacon Pigs In Blankets (x12) for £2.50 with Nectar Prices (usually £3.25). This offer is available until Friday, December 26, 2025.
