Tesco customers are being urged to check their Clubcard app as £11million worth of vouchers are set to expire. Around 24 million shoppers in the UK hold a Clubcard account, and many have vouchers that will become invalid on September 1.
The vouchers are valid for two years and must be exchanged before 11.59pm on Monday 31 August, according to Money Saving Expert (MSE). The team, led by BBC and ITV star Martin Lewis, highlights that shoppers can triple the value of their vouchers by spending them with Eating Out Reward Partners such as Pizza Express and Bella Italia.
How to extend your vouchers
If you don’t want to spend your vouchers immediately, there is a trick to extend them for another two years: spend a small amount, such as 50p from a £10 voucher. This keeps the remaining balance active.
According to Tesco's FAQ on Clubcard Prices, eligible customers receive exclusive savings on selected products based on their previous purchase history. Selected customers will receive new Clubcard Prices every Wednesday in the Tesco app, with discounts valid for 7 days.
Tesco Clubcard Prices explained
The FAQ states: "Your Clubcard Prices provides eligible customers with exclusive savings on selected products, based on their previous purchase history. If you’re selected, you'll receive Your Clubcard Prices on new products every Wednesday in your Tesco app. Your Clubcard Prices discounts are valid for 7 days."
Customers can purchase the products multiple times within the offer period. To apply Clubcard Prices, you need to unlock them in the Tesco app or online each week and scan your Clubcard at the till, or link your Clubcard to your online account.
Tesco adds: "You need a Clubcard to get Clubcard Prices. It's easy to join and you get other great benefits too. You'll need to be 18 or over to become a member. You can either download the Tesco app from your phone's app store or sign up on the Clubcard website."
What to do if you forget your Clubcard
Once registered, you can start using your Clubcard straight away by scanning the Tesco app at checkout in-store. If you opted in to Clubcard when registering for a Tesco account, you'll get Clubcard Prices automatically online.
If you forget to use your Clubcard, you can return to the store within 14 days with your Clubcard and receipt to get missed Clubcard points added and missed Clubcard Prices discount refunded.
