Major Retail Chains Announce Critical Product Recalls

Several prominent retailers with stores in Birmingham, including Marks & Spencer, Aldi, B&M, and Home Bargains, have issued urgent product recalls this week. The recalls involve multiple items due to undeclared allergens and labeling errors that pose potential health risks to consumers.

Home Bargains and B&M Recall Chocolate Product

Loudwater Trade & Finance Ltd is recalling Millennium Peanuts Caramel Milk Chocolate, sold in both Home Bargains and B&M stores. The 285g product contains milk, peanuts, and soya, and may contain almonds, cashew nuts, cereals containing gluten, and hazelnuts that are not declared in English on the label.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) states this creates a possible health risk for anyone with allergies or intolerances to these ingredients. All best before dates are affected.

FSA advice to customers: "If you have bought this product and have relevant allergies, do not eat it. Contact Loudwater Trade & Finance at support@loudwateruk.com for a full refund or return it to your local Home Bargains or B&M store."

Marks & Spencer Recalls Greek Yogurt

Marks & Spencer is recalling Authentic Greek Yoghurt with Vanilla because the product may contain gluten not mentioned on the label. The 500g tubs have a use by date of May 12, 2026.

FSA guidance: "Customers with gluten allergies or coeliac disease should not consume this product. Return it to the store of purchase for a full refund or contact Marks & Spencer on 0333301-48555 for more information."

Aldi Recalls Salmon Fillets

Aldi is recalling The Fishmonger Hot Smoked 2 Salmon Fillets – Honey Roasted due to a labeling error. The product displays an incorrect use-by date of June 25, 2026, when the correct date is April 25, 2026, making it unsafe to eat after the latter date.

Consumer Safety Recommendations

The Food Standards Agency emphasizes that these recalls are precautionary measures to protect public health. Customers who have purchased any of these products should:

  • Check their purchases against the recall list
  • Immediately stop consuming affected items if they have relevant allergies
  • Follow the specific return or refund instructions provided by each retailer
  • Contact the retailers directly for any additional concerns or questions

These recalls highlight the importance of accurate food labeling and the ongoing vigilance required by both retailers and consumers regarding product safety standards.
