Tech Firm Expands with Major National Contract
New jobs are set to be created at RMT Technology, the specialist technology division of RMT Accountants & Business Advisors, following a significant national contract win. The Gosforth-based business has been appointed as the full managed-service IT partner for Cyclife UK, a subsidiary of the global EDF Group that supports nuclear decommissioning and radioactive waste management projects.
Building on a Six-Year Partnership
This new agreement significantly expands a relationship that began six years ago, where RMT Technology provided IT support for Cyclife UK's site in Workington. The contract has now been ramped up to a nationwide level, with RMT Technology delivering comprehensive services including day-to-day IT support, proactive threat monitoring, and long-term infrastructure planning for all of Cyclife UK's operations across the country.
The expansion is expected to lead to the creation of a number of new service desk and field engineering roles. New staff have already been recruited and are in place in Southampton to cover the needs of Cyclife UK's operations in the south of England. The value of the contract has not been publicly disclosed.
Strategic Growth in the Energy Sector
RMT Technology aims to use this deal to strengthen its position within the demanding energy and environment sectors. The contract serves as a demonstration of its capability to meet the complex, multi-site operational needs of major clients. Cyclife UK's work involves the design and dismantling of nuclear facilities, managing large components, decontamination, waste reduction, and material recycling.
Andrew Laker, Chief Transformation Officer at Cyclife UK, commented on the renewed partnership, stating: "We are delighted to reaffirm our trusted partnership with RMT Technology as our chosen IT partner. Over the years, RMT has consistently demonstrated deep expertise and unwavering commitment to the high standards required in nuclear security." He added that their support would be vital as Cyclife UK embarks on a significant integration with its sister company, Cyclife Aquila.
Stephen McNickle, Commercial Director at RMT Technology, said: "Our deep understanding of Cyclife’s operational environment, our strong track record in highly regulated sectors and our ability to deliver robust, secure solutions at scale have all played a part in this contract success." He confirmed the company is investing in its team and facilities to support this growth, having recently moved into a new 1,800 sq ft office at its headquarters. This growth plan is expected to create at least 15 new technical and project management roles over the next two years.
