Barratt Homes Donates £1,500 to Baby Basics Northampton Charity
Barratt's £1,500 Donation Aids Baby Basics Northampton

Housebuilder Barratt Homes Northampton has made a significant £1,500 donation to the vital local charity, Baby Basics Northampton, to support families in crisis across the county.

A Lifeline for Families in Need

The donation was made through The Barratt Redrow Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting charities across the UK and leaving a positive legacy in communities where the company builds new homes. This funding will be used to supply Moses basket starter packs, filled with essential items for a baby's first three months, to families struggling with financial hardship.

Sabrina Oakey, Co-Founder and CEO at Baby Basics Northampton, expressed her gratitude for the timely support. She stated that at a time of rising poverty and unprecedented demand for the charity's services, the donation is genuinely life-changing. The packs not only provide a safe sleeping space for newborns but also promote early bonding, reduce parental stress, and help combat hygiene poverty.

Over a Decade of Community Support

Baby Basics Northampton was established in 2013 by four local mothers who saw the growing deprivation affecting families and the strain it placed on NHS midwives and health visitors. In the 12 years since its founding, the charity has supported more than 3,000 families with vital resources, alleviating the financial pressure of welcoming a new baby.

Simon Francis, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Northampton, emphasised the company's commitment to the local area. He said supporting causes like Baby Basics Northampton means a great deal, as the community is at the heart of their operations. He found it incredibly rewarding to know their contribution helps provide essential items and safe sleeping spaces for babies during difficult times.

Ensuring a Safe Start for Every Baby

The charity's work focuses on giving every baby in Northamptonshire the safest possible start in life. Ms Oakey highlighted that because of donations like this from Barratt Homes, babies who might otherwise go without now have a secure place to sleep. The charity continues to rely on community and corporate generosity to meet the escalating need for its crucial services.
