Bournemouth Dog Walk to Support Vital Local Charities
Dog owners in Bournemouth are being invited to participate in the Hope & Hounds sponsored walk on Sunday, March 29. This event offers a fantastic opportunity for participants to enjoy a scenic stroll along the seafront while raising funds for two important local charities.
Event Details and Activities
The walk will follow a route from Bournemouth Pier to Boscombe Pier and back, providing beautiful coastal views. Open to all dog owners, the event will feature exciting activities, including Easter egg prizes for the Best Dressed Dog and the participant who raises the Most Sponsorship Money. Additionally, there will be a craft competition for children, ensuring fun for the whole family. Every dog taking part will receive a commemorative medal as a token of appreciation.
Charities Benefiting from the Walk
The event supports Hope HTS, based in St Swithuns Road South, which assists rough sleepers and individuals affected by homelessness by offering safe accommodation and training programs to help them regain employment and achieve independent living. The other beneficiary is Helpful Hounds Assistance Dogs, located in New Road, Bournemouth, which provides specially trained dogs to support young people with Autism and Down’s syndrome, helping them build confidence and independence.
Community and Leadership Support
Julie Berti, CEO of Hope, expressed enthusiasm for the event, noting its return by popular demand after previous successful walks. She highlighted that it gives students and dog owners a chance to support these vital local causes. Peter Rufus, Trustee and volunteer CEO of Helpful Hounds, added that it is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together while enjoying a pleasant walk along the beach.
Practical Information
The Hope & Hounds walk is scheduled for Sunday, March 29, from 2pm to 4pm. Registration costs £5 and can be completed online. The 2026 event promises a fun afternoon for dogs and their owners, all while raising money for two charities that do important work in the community. The location is Bournemouth, Dorset.
