Bella Boo Finds Forever Home After 600 Days at Dogs Trust Kenilworth

A dog who spent over 600 days waiting for a permanent family has finally found her happy ending. Bella Boo, a five-year-old Labrador-Rottweiler crossbreed, was adopted from Dogs Trust Kenilworth after two Christmases in the charity's care.

Challenges in Finding the Right Match

Despite receiving considerable attention from potential adopters, Bella Boo faced specific rehoming requirements that made her journey longer. She needed an adult-only home with a confident owner who could provide a calm and patient environment. This was essential to help her settle at her own pace while managing her medical needs and ensuring she received the long, playful walks she loves.

The Dogs Trust team worked tirelessly to prepare Bella for her future home. They helped her become comfortable wearing a muzzle during walks and more at ease around new people and unfamiliar settings. Their dedication highlights the importance of specialized care in animal rescue.

A Heartwarming Adoption Story

Bella's breakthrough came when Jack, who had previously adopted Koda the Malinois Cross—one of Bella's kennel mates—returned to the centre. Having fallen in love with both dogs, he decided to give Bella her forever home, ending her long wait.

Emma-Jane Thomas, Manager at Dogs Trust Kenilworth, expressed her joy: "We're so happy to see Bella Boo find her forever home after over 600 days in our care. Her story is a testament to our team's hard work in helping dogs learn skills for their new lives."

Support from Postcode Lottery Players

This success is partly due to the generous support of Postcode Lottery players, who have raised over £30 million for Dogs Trust since 2014. This funding has helped care for more than 125,000 dogs across 21 rehoming centres in the UK.

The charity recently celebrated this milestone after 12 years of support, which enables essential daily care and specialized services such as:

  • Training and behavior support
  • Welfare and medical assistance
  • Fostering and volunteer coordination

Laura Chow, Head of Charities at Postcode Lottery, commented: "It's amazing that players have raised over £30 million for Dogs Trust. This funding has transformed the lives of thousands of dogs like Bella Boo, giving them a second chance at love and care."

Bella Boo's story underscores the impact of community support and dedicated rescue efforts in finding forever homes for animals in need.
