A Black Country charity is calling on the public to donate Christmas presents for vulnerable people across the region. Leslie’s Care Packages has launched its 2026 Christmas Appeal, seeking new, unwrapped gifts for homeless teenagers aged 16 to 19, rough sleepers, homeless people, and elderly residents in care homes and sheltered accommodation.
What to Donate and How
The organisation is asking for new, unwrapped presents, including festive treats, chocolates, biscuits, warm socks, hats, scarves, gloves, toiletries, wallets, purses, and make-up. Donations should be left unwrapped and placed in a gift bag so volunteers can sort and distribute them before Christmas.
Schools, workplaces, and community groups are also being encouraged to organise their own gift collections in support of the appeal. The deadline for donations is Friday, December 4, giving the team time to prepare presents for distribution.
Appeal Continues Despite Social Media Setback
The appeal is continuing despite founder Vi Wood temporarily losing access to the organisation’s original Facebook page, which had built up more than 6,000 followers. The team is continuing its work supporting people experiencing hardship across the Black Country while using a new social media presence.
Ms Wood said: “Community spirit is at the heart of Leslie's Care Packages Christmas Appeal, delivering hope this Christmas.”
