Marsden Launches Mystery Book Sale for Charity

Marsden Building Society’s Colne branch has opened an exciting new chapter in the Society’s fundraising efforts with the launch of a mystery book sale in support of Burnley FC in the Community’s 100 Club: Mission Possible challenge.

How the Mystery Book Sale Works

Customers can pick up a surprise read in the branch from just £1, with each pre-loved book wrapped and labelled only by genre. From gripping thrillers to classic fairy tales, the initiative invites customers to discover a new story while supporting a worthwhile cause.

Donations and Community Support

All books have been generously donated by customers and colleagues. The Society is currently welcoming further donations of good quality, used books at its Albert Road branch to help keep the shelves stocked.

Donna Grundy, Colne branch manager at Marsden Building Society, said: “We’re excited to launch our mystery book sale and hope our customers enjoy discovering books they may not have chosen otherwise. It’s a simple idea, but one that brings a bit of fun into fundraising and gives pre-loved books a second life at the same time. We’d love for people to get involved, whether that’s by picking up a book or donating one.”

Other Fundraising Activities

The mystery book sale is one of several fundraising activities planned by the Society. The campaign began in April, with colleagues from the People team rolling up their sleeves for a car wash at the Society’s Principal Office in Nelson, raising £220 towards the £1,000 target.

The mystery book sale is now available in the Colne branch, with customers encouraged to take part and help support the local community.

Location: Colne and Burnley, Lancashire
