Royal Berks Charity Celebrates Fundraising Success at Reading Half Marathon
In a remarkable display of community spirit and dedication, the Royal Berks Charity is celebrating an outstanding achievement after 73 committed runners participated in the recent Reading Half Marathon. The event has raised vital funds to support patients and staff across the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, marking a significant milestone in the charity's ongoing efforts.
Impressive Fundraising Totals and Community Support
Together, the team has raised an impressive £42,431, with donations continuing to come in. These funds are directed towards enhancing wards, departments, and services throughout the Trust. From first-time runners to seasoned participants, Team RBC demonstrated exceptional determination and passion for making a tangible difference in healthcare.
Supporters lined the streets to cheer on the runners, creating an electric atmosphere as participants tackled the challenging 13.1-mile course. This collective effort underscores the strong community backing for the NHS and the charity's mission.
30th Anniversary Milestone and Equipment Appeal
This year's event holds special significance as it forms part of the Royal Berks Charity's 30th anniversary celebrations. The funds raised will help launch the charity's ambitious £300,000 equipment appeal, aimed at funding life-changing medical equipment. This investment is designed to support NHS teams in working more efficiently while improving patient care, treatment, and recovery experiences.
Martin Butler, community and events manager at Royal Berks Charity, expressed his pride in the runners. He stated, "We are incredibly proud of every single one of our runners. Taking on a half marathon is no small feat, and to do it while raising funds for our hospital makes it even more special. This is a fantastic start to our 30th anniversary year, and we are so grateful for the support of our community."
