Sobell House Hospice has announced a packed schedule of events across its seven shops in Oxfordshire, including a Summer Spectacular Saturday in Wantage and an exclusive homeware painting workshop with renowned paint expert Annie Sloan at its Bicester superstore.
Summer Spectacular Saturday in Wantage
The charity's new shop at 7 Kings Walk, Wantage, OX12 9AJ, will host a Summer Spectacular Saturday on August 29. The event will feature the launch of a raffle, 20 per cent off all donated items, and a 10 per cent off voucher for the first 50 customers. Additionally, every purchase will come with a free bag, and there will be a free school uniform giveaway for those heading back to school. The store's mascot, Patch, will also make an appearance.
The Wantage shop is open from 9.30am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, and is one of two large superstores operated by Sobell House, which sell everything from clothes to furniture. The Bicester superstore also stocks Annie Sloan paints for upcycling and refreshing homeware.
Exclusive Annie Sloan Workshop
On Saturday, September 19, Sobell House ambassador Annie Sloan will lead an exclusive homeware painting workshop at the Bicester superstore. The session is designed for both complete beginners and experienced upcyclers, teaching participants how to transform homeware using Annie Sloan's world-famous Chalk Paint™ and techniques.
Attendees can bring their own piece to paint or choose from a curated selection of small furniture and decorative items available for purchase on the day. The workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn from the master herself.
Leather Care Tips from Suzie Fletcher
Television leather expert and Sobell House ambassador Suzie Fletcher has recorded a series of videos demonstrating how to freshen up and renew leather items, including handbags, jackets, and boots. The videos are being released as a limited series on the Sobell House shops' Facebook and Instagram channels.
Rainbow of Ribbons Display
Residents are reminded that the beautiful Rainbow of Ribbons display in University Parks will remain in place until September 2. After that, the ribbons will be brought back to the hospice, where they will be displayed on an ancient oak tree. There is still time to dedicate a ribbon and have it included in the display.
Growing Need for Hospice Care
Sobell House has highlighted the increasing demand for its services, with new impact figures showing that last year 37,347 calls were made through the Palliative Care Hub, 13,764 visits were carried out by the Home Hospice Care team, and 3,049 referrals were made to the hospital palliative care team. For the first time in its history, the hospice cared for more than 5,000 patients.
The charity expressed gratitude for the community's support, noting that the need for its care has never been greater. These events and initiatives are part of ongoing efforts to raise funds and awareness for the hospice's vital work.
