Wakefield Charity Opens £50k+ Funding for Youth Groups

The Wakefield Children's Charity has opened applications for local community groups and non-profit organisations to apply for a share of thousands of pounds in funding to support vulnerable young people across the district.

Fundraising History and Impact

Since its launch in 2011, the charity's annual Christmas lunch has raised more than £400,000 for good causes. In the previous year, the committee raised £50,000 to support projects such as uniform exchanges, baby banks, and local youth theatres. Organisers aim to increase that total to £55,000 during the upcoming 2026 festive event.

Application Details

Organisations applying for a cash contribution must actively support children within the local area and provide a clear plan for how the money will be spent. Pat Langham, Chair of the committee, said: “Once again, we are opening the applications for WACCL funds. This is a genuine opportunity for charities and not-for-profit organisations that support young people to access the funding they need to continue the incredible work that they deliver.” She added: “There is no specific requirement on what type of charity or organisation can apply. We have purposefully structured the process to ensure it is inclusive and welcoming of all requests.”

How to Apply

The application window is now officially open for both previously supported groups and new organisations looking for financial help for the first time. Local business leaders and companies can also get involved by signing up to sponsor the annual holiday event. Any local groups that would like to be considered for the funding must submit their completed application forms before the autumn deadline. Full details about the event and sponsorship opportunities can be found on the main charity website.
