A 15-year-old boy is set to appear in court after a teenager was stabbed inside the busy Merry Hill Shopping Centre in Brierley Hill.
Details of the Shopping Centre Attack
West Midlands Police were called to the popular retail complex on Friday, November 28, 2025, following reports that a 17-year-old boy had been attacked. Officers arrived swiftly at the scene. The victim sustained what has been described as a small cut to his back during the incident.
Charges and Court Proceedings
A teenage boy, aged 15, has since been charged in connection with the attack. He faces allegations of assault and possession of a bladed article in a public place. Due to his age, the accused cannot be named for legal reasons. He is scheduled to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, December 17.
In addition to this charge, three other individuals were arrested in the aftermath. Two boys, aged 16 and 18, and a 19-year-old man were detained on suspicion of affray and wounding. All three have been released on bail while police enquiries continue.
Ongoing Investigation and Centre Response
West Midlands Police have confirmed their investigation into the stabbing remains active. A force spokesperson urged anyone with information who has not yet come forward to contact them. "Our investigation is continuing into the incident and we ask anyone who has not yet spoken to us to come forward," they stated. Witnesses or anyone with details should call 101, quoting the reference number 20/458619/25.
Jonathan Poole, Centre Manager at Merry Hill, commented on the measures being taken. "Merry Hill has been supporting West Midlands Police in its investigation of the incident that took place last month," he said. "We're working together to ensure that the centre continues to be a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors, with enhanced police presence on site throughout the busy festive period."
