Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a motorcyclist was killed in a collision on a busy A-road in the West Midlands on Sunday night.
The incident happened on the A45 in Birmingham, near to the junction with Catherine Road, at around 10.30pm on 12 May. The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of emergency services.
Collision details and emergency response
West Midlands Police said officers were called to the scene following reports of a collision involving a motorcycle. The road was closed for several hours while investigators examined the area and collision investigators carried out enquiries at the scene.
The force has not yet named the victim, and said his next of kin have been informed. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death.
Police appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage
Investigating officers are now urging anyone who witnessed the collision, or who was driving in the area at the time and may have captured footage on dashcam, to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has sadly died. We are determined to establish the full circumstances of this collision and would ask anyone with information to contact us.”
He added: “We would particularly like to hear from anyone who was driving along the A45 in the vicinity of Catherine Road at around the time of the incident, or anyone who has dashcam footage that may have recorded the collision.”
