Tragic Loss of Young Life in Ellesmere Port Collision
A six-year-old boy has died following a devastating collision with a car on Anchor Drive in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. The incident occurred on Sunday, April 19, at approximately 11:40 am, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.
Emergency Response and Hospital Transfer
Cheshire Police were called to the scene after reports that a child had been struck by a black Infiniti FX30D vehicle. The young boy was quickly rushed to the hospital, accompanied by family members. Paramedics and police officers met them near the Whitby Sports and Social Club to provide urgent assistance.
He was subsequently transferred to the Countess of Chester Hospital for further treatment. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, the boy succumbed to his injuries and passed away. His next of kin have been informed and are currently receiving support from specialist police officers during this difficult time.
Arrest and Ongoing Investigation
A 48-year-old local man has been arrested in connection with the incident. He faces allegations of causing death by dangerous driving, drug driving, and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence. The suspect has since been released on bail as the investigation continues.
Detective Sergeant Iain Condliffe, from the Cheshire Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit, expressed the gravity of the situation. "This was a tragic incident in which a young child lost his life, and we are committed to doing all we can to establish exactly what took place," he stated.
