Dramatic Police Pursuit Ends in Crash
A driver was arrested after a cloned car crashed following a dramatic police pursuit near Birmingham. The incident took place in the Chelmsley Wood area of Solihull, where the suspect's vehicle ultimately came to a stop.
West Midlands Police confirmed that the car, a Lexus, had been stolen and cloned and was suspected of being used in a series of thefts of other vehicles.
Scene of the Incident
The pursuit, which was reported by WMP Traffic on X (formerly Twitter) on November 16, appears to have occurred at night. A photograph from the scene showed a dark-coloured Lexus with significant damage to its front bumper.
The vehicle was seen resting on a grass verge and pavement, close to what looked like a multi-storey car park, with its lights still illuminated.
Arrest and Aftermath
According to the police statement, officers from the #RoadCrimeTeam spotted the illicit Lexus. The driver attempted to flee but lost control of the vehicle during the pursuit.
The driver was subsequently arrested at the scene in Chelmsley Wood. This arrest highlights ongoing efforts by West Midlands Police to tackle vehicle crime and the dangerous use of cloned vehicles in the region.
