A driver has been arrested following reports of dangerous and anti-social driving at a popular leisure centre car park in Staffordshire.
Police Called to Disturbance
Officers from Cannock Police were called to Chase Leisure Centre in Cannock on the evening of Sunday, January 4. The emergency call came in after members of the public reported a group of vehicles gathering at the location, with some being driven in an alarming manner.
Dangerous Manoeuvre Witnessed
Upon arrival, police officers directly witnessed one of the vehicles performing a 'donut' manoeuvre – a circular stunt – on the tarmac of the leisure centre car park. The vehicle was promptly stopped by the attending officers.
A roadside drug wipe was administered to the driver. The test returned a positive result for cannabis, leading to the individual's immediate arrest.
Police Issue Community Warning
Cannock Police later shared details of the incident on social media, using it as an opportunity to remind the public about responsible behaviour. The force stated that while meeting friends in a car park is not a problem, driving in an anti-social or dangerous manner is unacceptable.
They emphasised that this is particularly true when a driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The police stressed that such actions put other people at serious risk and have a detrimental impact on the local community's sense of safety and well-being.
The arrested individual is now facing potential charges related to drug driving and dangerous conduct on the road.
