Brandon McPherson, 22, has been jailed for 33 months after police uncovered his operation running the 'Crash' county line from his home in Wolverhampton. The drug dealer pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of class A drugs, including crack cocaine and heroin.
Wolverhampton Crown Court heard that police established McPherson was behind the line in 2024. A mast most commonly used by the line was located close to his home, and 'top-ups' were also purchased near the property. Prosecutor Andrew Wilkins stated that nobody else was linked to the line at the time.
Arrest and Seizure
McPherson was arrested in September 2024, with police recovering the SIM used by the Crash line from his home. Officers also seized an extendable baton, a Nokia phone, £85 in cash, and three sets of scales with 'residue' of class A drugs.
McPherson accepted being an addict and said he 'inherited' the drugs line, which meant he could 'service his addiction at no cost'. However, Mr Wilkins added: "He would have had significant financial benefit."
Defence and Background
Justin Jarmola, defending, said McPherson was 'blighted by addiction'. He noted that McPherson has not offended since police brought down the drugs line. The court heard that McPherson, of Kimberley Street, Wolverhampton, had no previous convictions, but he received a youth caution for possession of crack cocaine and a blade dating back to 2019.
Sentencing
Sentencing on Monday, August 17, Judge Perry said McPherson had a 'low to medium risk of reoffending'. He jailed McPherson for 33 months, telling him: "I know that you are trying to sort yourself out. Try whilst you are inside to resolve these matters so you can come out a better person."
