The family of Chris Manders, a 36-year-old father of four from Birmingham, have paid tribute to him after he died in a motorcycle crash on the A38 in Tyburn on Sunday, August 23. West Midlands Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.
Mr Manders was riding a motorcycle when he was involved in a collision with a car near Kingsbury Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car has been spoken to by officers, but the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is continuing its enquiries.
'Deeply loved by everyone who knew him'
In a statement released through the police, Mr Manders' family described him as "a loving partner, an amazing and dedicated father to his four beautiful children, a much-loved son, a cherished brother and a true friend to so many."
They added: "He was deeply loved by everyone who knew him. His loss has left a hole in our hearts that words cannot express. We will carry his love, his memory and everything he meant to us forever."
The family also asked for privacy "to be respected at this incredibly difficult time."
Balloon release and candlelit tribute
To celebrate Mr Manders' life, a balloon release is scheduled for 7pm on Kingsbury Road tonight. Family and friends will also lay flowers and light candles in his memory.
Mr Manders was described as a "proud Blues fan," reflecting his support for Birmingham City Football Club.
Police appeal for dashcam footage
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "Our investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing. We're appealing for anyone who was driving in the area at the time to get in touch."
The spokesperson added that the Serious Collision Investigation Unit is particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident.
