The heartbroken family of an 18-year-old who died after his e-bike collided with a pelican crossing pole in Bilston have described him as the 'politest young man you could ever meet.'
Harvey Williams suffered fatal injuries in the incident on Bilston High Street on the evening of May 21, 2026. In a poignant statement released today, his loved ones remembered his 'beautiful nature' and the warmth he brought to those around him.
'Losing you has brought so much heartbreak beyond words and pain impossible even to imagine,' the family said. 'So beautifully natured, you are the most kindest, caring and by far the most politest young man a person could ever meet. We all love you so dearly and will forever cherish the memories, light and warmth you brought into our world and the world of so many.'
Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene. A MERIT trauma doctor and a critical care paramedic were dispatched alongside two ambulances and two paramedic officers, according to West Midlands Ambulance Service. A second man who was also on the bike sustained minor injuries but declined hospital treatment.
West Midlands Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the crash. Officers are preparing a file for the coroner and have kept Harvey's family informed of developments.
