Dog faeces was smeared over the intercom at Warstones Primary School in Penn, Wolverhampton, over the weekend, marking the second time the 'completely unacceptable' act has occurred, the school has confirmed.
The keypad of the intercom at the main entrance was found covered in the 'horrible' mess. The school shared a picture of the vandalised intercom on social media, alongside a statement expressing its disappointment.
School condemns 'disrespectful' act
In the post, the school said: "We are incredibly sad and disappointed that our intercom has been smeared with dog faeces once again. This behaviour is completely unacceptable and shows a real lack of respect for our school community."
The statement highlighted the intercom's role in maintaining security, adding: "Our intercom is there to help keep our school safe and secure, ensuring that our staff, children and parents can enter the building safely."
The school also addressed the practical impact on staff, saying: "This is not funny, harmless or acceptable. It is unhygienic, disrespectful and is horrible for our site manager who has to clean this mess, once again."
Community reacts with disgust
The school urged the wider community to help protect the premises, stating: "We ask our wider community to help us look after our lovely school and ensure this does not happen again."
The social media post prompted numerous Facebook users to express their reactions. Bethany commented: "That's so grim. What is wrong with people?" Laura wrote: "Can’t even begin to imagine what would give anyone the idea to do that, let alone do it. Totally despicable."
Christine replied: "Disgusting, some feral people around." Nick added: "It just proves the low level of intelligence that you’re dealing with. More brains in a rocking horse." Mark simply said: "Words fail me."
The incident comes as the school community deals with the repeated nature of the vandalism, which has now occurred more than once, raising concerns about security and hygiene at the entrance.
