School Lockdown Following Stabbing Incident on Campus
A secondary school in the United Kingdom was placed under lockdown after a teenage girl was stabbed on the premises. The incident occurred just before 10:25 AM on Wednesday, March 11, at Thorpe St Andrew School near Norwich.
The victim sustained minor injuries and was promptly transported to a hospital for medical treatment. In response to the attack, school officials activated emergency protocols, implementing a full lockdown.
Swift Response and School Procedures
A spokesperson for the Broad Horizons Education Trust, which operates Thorpe St Andrew School, confirmed the immediate actions taken. "We have clear procedures in place and our staff acted swiftly, with the whole school going into lockdown, with children staying in their classroom with their teacher," the representative stated.
The spokesperson added, "One of our students was injured and is now being treated in hospital for minor injuries. This has obviously been a distressing experience for our whole community and our focus now is on making sure all students feel supported as we begin to understand what happened."
Arrest and Police Investigation
Norfolk Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the stabbing. He was detained on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. The suspect was taken to the Wymondham police investigation centre for questioning.
Emergency services remained at the scene on Laundry Lane as the investigation continued. Authorities have indicated that this incident is not believed to be linked to a previously reported hate crime at the school. Last week, there were reports of alleged antisemitic chanting during a football match involving a Jewish school.
School Background and Community Impact
Thorpe St Andrew School is an 11-to-18 mixed secondary school that includes a sixth form. It was rated "Good" in a 2025 Ofsted inspection. The lockdown forced students to remain in their classrooms with teachers, highlighting the severity of the situation.
The stabbing has caused significant distress within the school community, with efforts now focused on providing support to all students as details of the incident emerge.
