A man in his 40s has been arrested following allegations that a schoolgirl was repeatedly sexually assaulted while travelling home on a bus in Gloucestershire over several days. The suspect has since been released on conditional bail as police continue their investigation.
Incident Details
Officers were called to Churchtown, Gloucestershire, on Monday after reports that a man approached the young girl while she waited at a bus stop. Once aboard the vehicle, he allegedly touched her without consent, including on her thigh and arm, and made sexual comments towards her. The girl is understood to have contacted police while still on the bus.
Multiple Incidents Reported
Gloucestershire Police confirmed that similar incidents occurred on Brookfield Road in Churchtown at around 3:30pm across several days. The girl reported that the same man boarded the bus and approached her again on Wednesday. Upon being alerted, the bus driver stopped the vehicle and prevented the suspect from fleeing.
Arrest and Investigation
A man in his 40s from Gloucester was arrested in connection with the incidents. He has been released on conditional bail while further enquiries are carried out. Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with mobile phone footage or CCTV recordings to come forward.
