Seven fire crews were called to a large blaze at Hodge Hill Court in Birmingham on Monday, August 24, with black smoke visible for miles across the city. The fire broke out at around 5.30pm, and no injuries were reported.
Fire at Hodge Hill Court
The incident occurred at Hodge Hill Court, off Ermington Crescent. West Midlands Fire Service's control room confirmed they received the first call at 5.28pm. Initial crews from Ward End and Erdington were dispatched, and they subsequently requested additional resources.
A spokesperson for the fire service's control room told BirminghamLive: "We received the first call at 5.28pm. Initial crews came from Ward End and Erdington. They then requested further resources. There was a total of seven crews attending the outside fire. No injuries."
Spread to parked car
Footage of the incident, shared by Councillor Majid Mahmood, who represents Hodge Hill, showed firefighters working to bring the blaze under control. The fire was seen spreading to a parked car.
Mr Mahmood said: "Unfortunately there has been a fire at Hodge Hill Court, off Ermington Crescent. Thankfully, no injuries reported. A huge thank you to residents for their patience and to West Midlands Fire Service and local police for their rapid response and keeping everyone safe."
No buildings affected
The fire control spokesperson said buildings were not "affected" or "directly involved" in the incident. Crews left the scene at around 4.40am today, August 25.
