A 62-year-old woman from the Midlands has appeared at the Old Bailey facing multiple criminal charges related to allegedly supporting the proscribed terrorist organisation Hamas.
Details of the charges
Sarah Wilkinson, of Bishop's Castle in Shropshire, faces two counts of encouraging terrorism through posts on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. The alleged offences occurred in 2024.
She is also charged with two counts of disseminating a terrorist video on the same platform and one count of expressing support for a terrorist organisation.
Wilkinson faces an additional charge of failing to comply with a notice issued under Section 49 of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 after allegedly refusing to supply her mobile phone PIN code to authorities in November 2024.
Court appearance and bail
The defendant appeared before Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb at the Old Bailey on Friday, November 14. During the hearing, she spoke only to confirm her identity while standing in the dock.
Judge Cheema-Grubb set a provisional trial date listed for January 2027. The trial will be held at Birmingham Crown Court, according to information provided during the hearing.
Wilkinson is expected to enter her pleas to all charges on March 13 next year. She has been granted bail pending further proceedings.
