A Stourbridge resident who evacuated as a wildfire swept through the area has described the "incredible sight" of returning home to find it untouched, thanks to the efforts of firefighters.
The blaze, which broke out on the outskirts of Stourbridge, forced several residents to flee as flames spread rapidly across dry grassland. The resident, who asked not to be named, told BirminghamWorld that they had expected the worst when they saw the scale of the fire from a distance.

"I escaped the Stourbridge wildfire, then returned home to an incredible sight," they said. "The fire had come right up to the garden fence, but the house was still standing. The firefighters had managed to hold the line just in time."
Fire crews from West Midlands Fire Service were deployed to the scene, with multiple appliances and specialist wildfire units tackling the flames. The service confirmed that no injuries were reported and that the fire was brought under control within a few hours.
